Based on the news from CNR Web Dalian dated Feb.14, DSIC’s new generation of 58# 319,000 DWT VLCC “Kairun” was named and delivered to China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd on Feb.14, soon after 56# 308,000 DWT VLCC “Yuanchunhu” had been delivered to COSCO successfully on Dec.25, 2014.
Since the 1st 300,000DWT VLCC in China was delivered successfully in 2001, DSIC has always attached great importance to R&D, optimization and continual upgrade of high value-added shiptype. With great concentration on R&D and design for years, the R&D team have worked out the design proposal of 7th generation of energy-saving and environment-friendly VLCC, which is a design result with epoch-making significance. The successful delivery of “Yuanchunhu” and “Kairun”, the first ships for new generation of VLCC in two types, has continued to compose the new chapter that DSIC always takes a lead in the domestic and global VLCC markets. Although under the circumstance of poor newbuilding market, an orderbook of abt. 20 ships under this series of shiptypes has been bagged, which has laid a solid foundation for DSIC another height.
As an apple of DSIC, this shiptype has 3 advantageous design characteristics: 1. Performance index is outstanding. The comprehensive energy-saving effect is outstanding, whose overall performance index has reached to the domestic leading level; 2. The anti-sediment design is adopted for ballast tanks, where such a design has acquired the utility model patent from China State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO); 3.The design of this shiptype complies with the latest requirements of international rules and regulations and conventions, and meets the demand of shipowners on the electromechanical equipment and systems - energy saving and environment-friendly, safe and reliable, and operation convenient.
Adhering to excellent design and building quality project, various performance index of “Yuanchunhu” and “Kairun” are outstanding via sea trial, whose design of rapidity has taken a lead among the domestic peer shiptypes, with a daily fuel consumption less than 79tons and EEDI index 20% lower than base value. This embodies the international competitiveness of DSIC in design and construction of VLCC, which has received the high praise from shipowners.
