Science and technology constitute a primary productive force, where innovation and development of science and technology have played a great role in promoting changes of our life and progress of society. All this is inseparable from obscure and hard work of thousands and thousands of scientific and technical workers. Starting with this year, the national scientific and technical workers have had their own day, namely, the National Scientific and Technical Workers’ Day on May 30.

Then, why is May 30 selected? On May 30, 2016, the National Science & Technology Innovation Conference, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering Conference, and the 9th National Congress of China Association for Science and Technology(CAST) were held in Beijing, where General Secretary Xi Jinping made an important speech at the conference, calling for marching towards a world scientific and technical superpower, which has aroused a strong repercussion domestic and abroad, and through the whole society, setting up a new milestone in the development of China. Therefore, based on this mark, May 30 is defined as the National Scientific and Technical Workers’ Day.

As the National Scientific and Technical Workers’ Day drawing near, well organized and carefully prepared, DSIC’s Association for Science and Technology has held a series of activities, such as seminar for heavy industry professional committee, the first session of innovative approach contest, the thematic signing activity for the National Scientific and Technical Workers’ Day, and working meeting for Association for Science and Technology so as to celebrate the first National Scientific and Technical Workers’ Day.
